Visit of Prof. Truls Østbye to the Duke Ruhuna Collaborative Research Centre

The Duke Ruhuna Collaborative Research Centre (DRCRC), Faculty of Medicine, University of Ruhuna, had the honour of welcoming Prof. Truls Østbye from 17th to 19th November 2025.

Prof. Østbye is the Lead of the Duke Ruhuna Collaborative Research Centre and Co-Director of the Duke Ruhuna Centre for Infectious Diseases (RDCID). His visit marked an important milestone in strengthening the long-standing academic and research collaboration between Duke University and the Faculty of Medicine, University of Ruhuna.

During the visit, Prof. Østbye engaged in several productive meetings with the DRCRC staff and academic collaborators from the Department of Community Medicine, Faculty of Medicine, as well as the Faculty of Allied Health Sciences. These discussions focused on ongoing collaborative research activities, capacity building initiatives, and future directions for interdisciplinary research and training.

The visit provided a valuable platform for knowledge exchange, strategic planning, and reinforcing partnerships aimed at advancing high-quality research, particularly in the areas of public health and infectious diseases.
