Visit of Prof. Soman N. Abraham to the Duke-Ruhuna Collaborative Research Centre
The Duke-Ruhuna Collaborative Research Centre (DRCRC), Faculty of Medicine, University of Ruhuna, was honored to welcome Prof. Soman N. Abraham, Grace Kerby; Distinguished Professor of Pathology, Director of Graduate Studies in Pathology at Duke University Medical Center, USA, and Professor in the Program in Emerging Infections at Duke-NUS Medical School, Singapore.
During the visit, Prof. Abraham participated in several discussions together with Prof. Truls Ostbye (Co-Lead of the Duke-Ruhuna Collaborative Research Centre), engaging with DRCRC staff members, faculty members, and the Dean of the Faculty of Medicine, University of Ruhuna. The discussions focused on strengthening ongoing collaborations, research development, and future academic and scientific opportunities.
Notably, Prof. Abraham delivered a guest lecture titled “Mast Cell Modulation of Immune Responses to Infection: Friend and Foe” on Tuesday, 28th April 2026 at the GMA Auditorium, NHG to an audience of academic staff, researchers, students, and healthcare professionals, providing valuable insights into immune responses and infectious disease research.
