Duke Global Health Pathway for Residents and Fellows

The Duke Global Health Pathway for Residents and Fellows (GHP) mission is to develop academic leaders in global health dedicated to reducing human suffering caused by health disparities. As a distinguished program that incorporates multiple departments, the GHP delivers tailored postgraduate training experiences integrating specialty-specific research opportunities, didactic training, and close mentorship to develop careers in global health. Current Duke residents and fellow who apply and are accepted to the GHP can chose to conduct their research project in Sri Lanka in partnership with the Duke Ruhuna Collaborative Research Centre.

The Hubert Yeargan Center (HYC) for Global Health at Duke facilities clinical training opportunity for Duke residents and fellows from across multiple disciplines. Residents and fellows from various training programs can apply to participate in a clinical elective in Galle, Sri Lanka to work alongside faculty and trainees from Ruhuna University at the Teaching Hospital Karapitiya. These rotations are designed to provide meaningful clinical experiences while fostering a deeper understanding of diverse cultural contexts and health systems. The overarching goal is to help trainees develop the skills, perspectives, and adaptability needed to deliver effective, compassionate care in a wide range of global health settings.
