Dr. Dhammika Palangasinghe Presents at ID Week 2025

We are proud to share that Dr. Dhammika Palangasinghe delivered a virtual poster presentation at ID Week 2025, the leading international conference on infectious diseases.

His poster, “Perspectives from Sri Lankan Physicians on Current and Future Tools for Diagnosing and Managing Lower Respiratory Tract Infections,” explored physicians’ experiences and attitudes toward clinical guidelines, rapid diagnostic tests (RDTs), and clinical decision support tools (CDSTs) in managing lower respiratory tract infections (LRTIs). The study also assessed the potential benefits and limitations of electronic CDSTs (eCDSTs) in clinical practice.

This research highlighted that while physicians primarily rely on clinical judgment, CDSTs and eCDSTs can enhance evidence based decision-making, efficiency, and standardization of care, provided challenges such as internet access, local applicability, and required inputs are addressed.
